While I was reading Sep 6 issue of Newsweek, I suddenly came across the date Sept. 11. Like struck by a lightening, I realized that this is already the 3rd anniversary of
Three years.
That must be a very long time.
But why I feel the tragic day was just like yesterday.
I still remember the special edition of Newsweek followed that day, with the airpland crashing into the middle of the world trade centre tower. Thick black smoke covered half of the sky.
I still remember the cover page of another issue of Newsweek with Bush, Rice, The then Chief General and wife of the guy, who said that famous sentence “let’s roll !” and then lead the fellow passengers crashed the plane in Pennsylvania.
I still remember putting aside my prelim revision in JC2 and waiting in the TV room to watch the live broadcasting of the memorial service for the 1st anniversary. At Ground Zero. Family members of those died in the tragedy read their beloved ones’ names in front of the rest of the world and the rest of the world was sobbing with them.
So many things could happen in three years.
On my part, I finished my A'evel. Entered University. Finished freshman year. And even been to US myself. Seeing the big hole—Ground Zero—in the centre of the financial district and the heavily guarded NY stock exchange by my own eyes & Trying to imagine what it was like on that very day.
On US’s part, they started and nearly finished two regional wars since then. One with
真可谓竞选危机四伏,似有四面楚歌之势。
Whenever I think about 9.11, I would see that widow’s face, with great sadness hidden in seemingly calm facial expression. How is her life now with two young children? Has she gotten over with the loss of her husband? And how about the other people who may have lost their wife, mother, father, sister, brother, cousin or close friends…. ? How are they coping with their lives?
I don’t know what the results of two the wars have brought to American people, but one thing I know for sure is that we have lost and are still losing young lives in the ongoing insurgence. The loss of one soldier may just be a figure appearing on the report to the Department of Defense. But the real pain is felt and bear by those people who saw him growming up, who was his schoolmate and most of all, his family members.
People always say that time will cure all wounds. I sincerely hope that is true. But I feel the best we could hope is not creating anymore new wounds for anyone else in the world.
9/11 accident was a tragic and a disaster. but it was a greater one when it became a tool and an excuse of george wathington bush, of the pentagon, of the united states. let the republicans go to hell and the 9/11 victims will rest in peace.
