If for the last semester I would call myself an Exchange student, then this semester I will be best described as a Business Major. Why? Just look at the courses I am taking, 4 out of 6 are from Business:
HR2002 Understanding Human Relations in the New Economy (Engineering faculty requirement)
MKT1003 Principle of Marketing (ah! all the way I was calling it Intro to Mkt)
BSP1005 Managerial Economics
BSP1004 Legal Environment of Business
I know many people probably think I want to take Biz minor. But I think the marginal benefits of which the minor degreen can bring me is not good enough for me to give up the freedom of choosing the courses I like. So I am doing the courses purely out of my interests. And also because I always heard people saying Biz is useful, especially for Engineering major, so I want to see for myself how they are like.
For my grand plan, I have conquered yet another faculty in NUS. With the general education course from Medical Faculty, I am only left with School of Design and Environment as my last target. HaHa.... And though Law faculty doesn't offer any electives for outsiders, I have also tasted a bit of law module in BSP1004. So I definitely don't agree with people who said that NUS doesn't allow you to take courses that you want.
Actually, in my original plan, I wanted to take an Accounting and Intro Finance module too, but due to the popularity of the modules and timetalbe constraints, I compromise on these four. But I am alaready quite happy with them because they spans basically the most central fields of Biz already, namely Marketing, Economy, HR. For finance, I have taken Engineering Economy which taught about cash flow, present value etc., so I just count that as an introductory course lah.
Just saw the email from registrar office about the Professor's teaching quality survey.
sounds exciting! in choosing a board scope, one may have to trade off between the depthness of one study.
