I was hit by a car when crossing the very complicated traffic light on the ring road.
Partically because I was in a hurry to catch my Human Factor Exam (remembered it was afternoon, but then found out it is actually 9-12 am), so I tried to rush through a blinking red light.
Then, before I realised, I flew off the bike and landed on the road side. I think I almost made across, but then it a small car hit the end of my bike.
The driver was very nervous when he saw me lying on the ground. I landed sideway, with my rightside of the body hitting the ground first. I felt huge pain on my chest and right side of my hip. A quick check found no fracture or bleeding, just some 擦伤 and bruises.
According to the driver, he is driving towards the sun, so he didnt really saw me in the bright sunlight.
Anyway, according to human factor principle, the traffic junction definitely has some design problem. But I have no time to think about that. To my surprise, I actually managed to climb back to my bicycle and biked to the school. The professor kindly extended half an hour for my exam to let me finish the paper.
But when I think back about the accident, I am really scared to death. So much worse things could have happened to me. I will NEVER NEVER rush through a traffic light after this near-death experience.
My leather shoe was destroyed in the accident.
This is the big traffic junction where the accident occurred. The lights can be really confusing sometimes.
