Finally, finally, finally, finally, finally, finally—The Visa has arrived.
Thurday, I finally received Embassy’s email that my visa arrived. So this morning, I went to the embassy to submit documents as required and will collect my passport back Next Monday. Imimediately, I booked the earliest flight possible, which leaves next Tue afternoon because only now I can be sure of the departure date.
Why are there so many finally? Because there are so many times that I thought the Visa should arrive but then it was delayed so various, sometimes rediculus and unbelievable reasons.
Even if I arrive in TU/e next Wednesday without any unforseeable “accidents”, I have not only missed the orientation week (still a whole loads of work about residence permit, medical check up and Gods knows other procedures), but 3 weeks of actual lessons. I would have to hurry myself to catch up on the lessons I have missed and pray that I will be able to pass in the end. This is exactly the situation I wanted to aovid and I have tried my very best to not make it happen, but still I am in it now anyway.
So why should I be happy about getting the VISA? They should give me so much earlier and they owe me an apology. But I got none. Mrs V1 said that unfortunately “this kind of thing happens quite often” – so I am not the first Chinese student she encounters and she knows it takes a long time to apply the VISA.
Had Mrs V1 from my department in Tu/e started the application earlier as I told her in May, I should be able to arrive before Aug 15.
Had Mrs V2 from the univeristy’s international office checked with her colleague about arriving speedpost, my NESO certificate would not only be found 2 WEEKS after arriving at her office and I will only miss one week of lesson.
It has been just 1 year since I started application for the exchange program last year and I can finally say this
"Only do things which you strongly believe in because there will be many unexpected difficulties along the way.
Without a strong belief it is very hard to continue until the end." -- from me
Congratulations Yiran. =) May ur stay in Holland be inspiring and challenging.
You are exactly the kind of girl with a strong believe. Congratulations your VISA was finally done. And get ready for another chapter of new life. In life these kinds of things may happen to anyone in anyday, anyway we still go through them. Do Never look back and just go ahead. There are so many fatastic things to look forward to, there are so many new things that we can explore. Have a good journey!
