I have never felt so strongly against some political issues. This is a f**ked up world. I didn't know about the Tibet riots until I came back to Barcelona. Just before I went on the trip, two weeks ago in my Corporate Social Responsibility class, the tutor was showing this fabricated picture about the newly built railway across Tibet, and how this disturbed Tibetan antelopes. I was the only Asian in the class and I couldn't help viewing this issue as an obvious and failed attempt by the Chinese government to sooth the Westerners. Yes the government probably knowingly accepted this fake photo, but who is to blame? Westerners who never set foot in Tibet but insist that railways kill antelopes? How about hundreds of kangaroos/antelopes killed by motorists because of highways built into their habitats? Did anyone question that??? How many Westerners truly care about Tibet and its people? How many Westerners actually know anything about it? Yet, they are capable of speaking of anything "moral", parading with their human rights flags and banners, priding themselves for doing the world's a favor. It's almost comical, how educated politicians can openly make statements without investigating into the issue. Peaceful demonstrators? Please check out the footage shot by the Australian tourist Michael Smith. There are more accounts from tourists describing a bloody and violent riot. How interesting that Western media "happened to" omit this part in their reports? And how can the politicians denounce China for sending troops, when just a few years ago, US soldiers shot the rioters in LA during the Rodney King uprising? And just when you thought it couldn't get worse... check this out. I am so speechless. I feel so sorry for China.
