I finally finished reading The Devil Wears Prada. The original novel. It turns out the movie was a rather edited version with a happy ending, which I guess, might disagree with the reality in this relentless industry. So who's the "single most powerful woman" that inspired the book? No.1 guess- Anna Wintour
Fashion industry's ultimate icon, editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour is truly a legendary woman. Having finished education at age 18 (some sources say 16), she is amazing to have climbed to her position given how utterly snobbish this industry could be - don't you think? I was really tempted to put Carine Roitfeld as my No.1 guess but after all, the story happened in US right? So Anna should be it. "Incidentally" she was also born in Britain and has two kids. She never stays at her parties for more than the beginning 10 minutes. All so very Miranda-ish. Weren't there rumors that all models appearing in the TDWP movie would be banned from Vogue? No.2 guess- Carine Roitfeld Carine Roitfeld can dress no wrong. The editor of French Vogue (so now we can see Vogue is definitely THE fashion magazine). She has just replaced Wintour as the most closely watched fashion editor in front row. I haven't seen much of her in magazines, but I recognize her mainly by her bushy brows and skinny face...really prominent when close-up...
No.3 - Emmanuelle Alt Fashion editor of French Vogue. A bit overshadowed by Roitfeld but I think she represents French chic much better with a regal feel.
