MY LIFE AND THREE QUOTES
It is not always easy to express some deep feelings inside me. But when I come across such sentences, my heart immediately recognizes them.
To the world you may mean one person; but to one person you may mean the world.
-anonymous
I was raised in a small neighborhood, attended a small primary school where I was the centre of all attention. I enjoyed special treatment and attention from adults and peers. However changes have taken place over the years. I have come a long way from the small school. Slowly I started to feel the pressure of unimportance and anonymity in a crowd. Inside me there are doubts about how well I can perform, about what people think of me. I have always wanted to make a difference; I have always wanted to matter. Then this quote came to my rescue. The world is too complicated and chaotic; too many things are beyond my control. But I can do my small part to make life happier for at least some people. I know my existence will then mean something to these people. To have a fruitful life I do not need to change the world, I do not have to be a president to make a difference. I am important to the disabled lady I teach in a Home, I am important to the beneficiaries of charities which I help to raise fund for. I am important to the lost child I help to find home. My mere presence is important to my family and my friends.
Every child is a reminder that God has not lost hope in men. - Tagore
I have always loved children. Once a child, I was lucky to enjoy my green years unfettered by hunger, violence or disease. Not everyone is as fortunate. How could we watch a precious symbol of hope perish in despair, when there is tremendous potential and future lying in front of this child? It is my wish to pursue a career related to child development, to protect them from any harm, to help them and to equip them with life skills.
Human life occurs only once, and the reason we cannot determine which of our decisions are good is that we can make only one decision. We are not granted a second life in which to compare various decisions. - Milan Kundera
I could not help but praise his ingenuity! Milan Kundera’s books are full of such subtle but philosophical observations of life. This quote means the most to me because it makes me realize that there is no point in regretting decisions. Sometimes I look back at my decisions to come to Singapore, to transfer schools, I do have sentiments. But how do I know if I would be better off with another choice? I know the answer is belief. To believe in myself and the decisions I make, to strive on the road I choose and to make the best out of what I have.
do leave me some comments after you read it...
