 I absolutely agree, as right now I'm trying to self-study the textbook in preparation for next week's STA261 exam. I wonder why I should still pay the tuition fees when I hardly attend the classes and virtually learn everything on my own.

I think it IS definitely possible to become a self-educated actuary(or any other professional).

But the problem is, who has the guts to quit school?

什么东西都是可以自学的，才可以靠材培养地。。。

hehe, it all depends on you aim for study. if you merely wish to follow other's step, you probably can do it all on your own, provided you are brilliant enough. but if you wish to go further, you need to interact with other brilliant minds. knowledge is accumulative. after all, there are so many unique aspects about an education at a great university. Will is rather a bit ignorant in that sense.
