Spent a very, very happy birthday yesterday!
Did not have a very good sleep the nice before because my mind was already entering the excited “bdae” status before I slept. Fixed a small gathering with a few classmates after 11pm. (Sorry did not ask along local friends because afraid that you would not be able to stay late.)
Received this message from zhoux around 9 in the morning, which literally made me burst into tears! My ex-roommates wrote to Zaobao to give me birthday wishes?!!!! Then sped downstairs again to read the paper… Was soooooooo touched that I have had such wonderful roommates… Although we are no longer roommates, we will never forget the days of B425. I am fortunate to have the two of you as my friends! In fact I thank another two ex-roommates for the gift and message. I am blessed that my roommates always become very good friends of mine.
Then went out with xk (my present roommate, although our friendship started long before our moving into the same room). Was treated to Swensen for lunch! And it was my first time at Swensen, haha. Just because it was my birthday and she first time receiving a salary :-) Unfortunately she had to go back to work early in the afternoon, so I was left alone wandering in Orchard Road (it would not be economical to go back and come out again to the same place for another gathering after 5 hours right). So went to the library and started reading a book called shan1 ju1 bi3 ji4 for the rest of the afternoon. Before I came to the midway, it was almost time already, and I was starving—I was too kind to eat to my fullest capacity for lunch, haha…
Anyway, came to the mrt control station to meet people. 6 arrived in time, 1 coming much later. Went to taka basement for dinner. To our surprise it was not exceptionally busy because we easily found a place and chatted for almost 2 hours with no disturbance except for occasionally supply of water. It was nice to be able to see familiar faces again. And I took time to react to the change to office attire of many of them. It was certainly fun!
On the way to MRT (I decided to take MRT instead of bus, which later proved to be a wise decision), I was given this cutely wrapped small cardboard box, by sw, but was told not to open until I reach home. Because it was a SKELETON -_-
Before the stop that I was suppose to alight to say goodbye to the rest, I suddenly remembered that we did not take photo yet!! So we all lined up on the empty platform with only one other person who certainly became our cameraman J Sadly two had left earlier.
Before I got out of the control station, I met another friend, unexpectedly, who did not know it was my birthday but was in time to say happy birthday, haha. It was such a coincidence because we had met another time on staircase as well! So we had the chance to take the same bus back and chatted along the way.
On the way walking back from bus-stop, could not help but opened the cute wrapper. It was a full statue of a skeleton in clothes and boots. A skeleton playing a flute… Fine, I APPRECIATE ALL GIFTS GIVEN BY MY FRIENDS. It was a bit scary la…but in one way, special.
Came back exhausted. But still reminded myself to find the Zaobao I read in the morning to cut down the section where my name was printed. My first time seeing my own name printed in newspaper! Will keep the piece of paper for my life >_*
A very very nice birthday! Thanks all my friends!
