 Keywords: windows live mail, register, registration, account, hack, bug, free

Windows Live Mail account ***@live.com is not open for public registration yet. However, now there is a hack trick which allows you to do so.

Step 1 - Go to this usual Hotmail registration page: http://get.live.com/getlive/overview

Step 2 - Click either "Get it Free" button on the page. (Something like , but no one ask you to click here. Go to the registration page you idiot.)

Step 3 - Wait for the page which requires your details to be loaded. You may realize there's only '@hotmail.com' available for registration.

Step 4 - Here comes to the important part. Copy & paste the following script into your address bar, and press Enter. (and don't ask me where is the Enter button on the browser, it's on your keyboard!)

javascript: var p = 'live.'; var ds = new Array('com', 'cn', 'fr', 'it', 'nl'); for (var i = 0; i < ds.length; i ++){document.getElementById('idomain').options[i] = new Option(p + ds[i], p + ds[i])} alert('domains added');

Step 5 - Arh! Here comes @live.com.

Follow the registration steps, make sure you fill in the correct post code.

Step 6 - Click 'I accept', it's all yours!

What are you waiting for? Go grab your account before it's taken.

Free Windows Live Mail accounts become inactive if you don't sign in for 120 days, or within the first 10 days after signing up for an

account. After an account becomes inactive, all messages, folders, and contacts are deleted, but the account name is still reserved. If the account stays inactive for an additional 90 days, the account name may be permanently deleted.

According to Microsoft, @live.com is meant for US users only. Users from other regions of the world can only register accounts with @windowslive.com

I don't whether people can take advantage of this backdoor on Live.com to register a @live.com account, choosing Singapore as Country. But I'm afraid one day when Microsoft officially open register, those who choose Singapore as Country name would suffer from being not able to open the email box.

If you want to play safe, I still highly recommend to tick USA as Country name.
