went for the 'Friday West Night Ride' just now...

met the rest at adam road, quite some mountainbikes(mtb) so i was wondering how fast can they go... then head towards west coast road... this part is alright, was going at 30+..

after riding at west coast for a distance, we turned right and went up kent ridge hill. only when climbing then u will wish to be on a mtb. i was struggling on my last gear when those on mtb still got few spare gears left... kaoz...

stopped after we reach the top, one guy's chain got problem and we helped him to fix it. later we go downslope, the slope is so steep that i must keep on braking. because the road is curving left n ride, so if i went too fast, my tyres would ski.. and i will just knock on a poor tree at a speed of 36-37km/hr.

our next target is jurong hill.. before reaching the hill there was quite a long stretch of flat ground. and i was drafting with 2 other roadies and a mtbiker on slick at a speed of 38-39. the mtbiker is really good.. we were already trying hard and he can still follow. stopped at a petrol station, finished quite some drinks there, after that we went up jurong hill. that hill wasn't steep nor high, but my thighs almost cramp.. coz roadbike is just not good for climbing..

came down, next resting point was tuas. for those of you who dunno, tuas is at the s'pore m'sia boundary. it's quite far from jurong hill but because the road condition was good, i was riding fast. later i can feel there are people drafting me.. ha.. still those few strong riders, including the mtbiker. but my stamina is just not that good, some more i had just climbed 2 hills, so i started to slow down and was making a sign with my hand to ask them overtake me.

then this mtbiker started to shout, 'where got mtb lead roadbike one'.. -.- dun care lah, i got nothing to say.. like tat i just lead lor... won't die one...

coz i was spending more energy to maintain the speed, heart rate increased rapidly.. and it was all the way around 181-182 until we reached tuas. heart rate of 180 means that in 1 sec your heardbeat will be 3. my highest instantaneous heart rate ever reached was 189... at such a heart rate i was about to shock. so you can imagine how did i feel with a constant heart rate of 180... feel like HELL!!!

when resting, i could see the sweat dripping from my jersey and face.. and quickly my tights and jersey were all wet... later then i knew that the mtbiker is actually a competitive rider and is one of the few best riders in this group.. gosh...

after that we ride to NTU from tuas... reaching NTU and i can feel my legs aching.. argh.. changed to smaller gear.. continue... can't i do it?

inside NTU, we first ride up the Admin Annex hill.... still can survive... but i can feel that thighs are gonna cramp again...

after that we came down and i saw some guys resting at pioneer road exit.. they decide not to continue climbing hills...

i continued.. this is my school.. why can't i conquer all the hills?

ride to hall 15 hall 14 area.. then ride behind NIE... okie, here comes the hardest and last hill, the SCI HILL!!! it is so steep that sometimes buses have problem going up when stopped halfway.. and we are up for it!!! i was the first one who started climbing.. damn! thighs cramped, and it's both legs!! normally if my legs cramp i will just stop and stretch, coz it's extreamly painful if i continue riding. but NOT THIS TIME!! i am already finishing the whole ride and I JUST CANNOT STOP HERE!!

i started to ride zigzag, with the pain from legs stabbing my heart. i could barely continue, coz i almost couldn't feel anything from my legs other than the pain... cramped legs... Argh!!!

2 mtbikers ride up and overtook me slowly.... envy them.. coz mtb gears are much smaller compare to roadbike's. i shouted 'be careful' to them coz later the downslope will be very steep as well. and i am still struggling here!!

i believe 'mind over body' sometimes, and this time my mind is adding power to my legs. yes, some more, yesh!! i reached the top!!!

on my way down i did not pedal at all... legs were still cramped.. and i feel even more pain when not pedaling at all.

reached the meeting point and i was the first to reach after climbing all the hills. throw the bike on the grass, i lay on the ground..

finally i have completed it.. i proved that i can do it....

ride back to hall later... it's a painful but nice experience tonight... hopefully i can still walk tml...

i am hungry now... the last time i ate something was 4pm... i want food!
