【电脑】Linux = Nightmare

Finally, I decided to install Linux... I borrowed Fedora 1.0 installation CDs from little boy... This is ought to be the best Linux distrubition...

Amadeo came to my room tonight... He should be quite used to Linux... Thus, I requested him to help me to install Fedora for me... All kinds of problems came out... Fedora failed to indentify my on-board LAN card... well, this is understandable... Mine is a Gigabit LAN card... Thought, the driver for Linux is provided... Amadeo somehow failed to install it... Never mind, I have another 100M LAN card...

Fedora disappointed me again by failing to indentify my SATA harddisk... This means that I have to change BIOS settings whenever I want to switch platforms... This is very very troublesome...

Perhaps, Linux is too secure... I have to switch between the root/super user/normal account when installing driver/softwares... Can't I just use the root account as I use the administrator account in windows?

And, Linux did crashed... It crashes more frequently than my Windows...

You may be wondering how come I am typing in English... I simply can't type Chinese in Linux... Amadeo told me that installation of Chinese input under Linux was the most tedious thing when using Linux... I've tried to install fcitx and SCIM... both could be installed normally, but just refused to run... without giving any error msg...

BTW, the default browser comes with Fedora - Mozilla 1.4.1 really sucks... It is one of the worst browser I ever used... Thanks Goodness... I manage to install Opera 7.23... Opera is good...

The messaging client - Gaim, is the only software that impresses me... It combines major IM softwares together... Linux should run faster than Windows... However... At my computer... I feel that my win 2k3 system runs faster than Fedora... I just don't understand why it takes a few seconds to run OpenOffice.org Writer... I don't few any delay when I run Word 2003 in windows... It also takes a few seconds in windows to run Mozilla, and there is no delay when I open Mozilla in Linux... But..... Mozilla sucks.........................

Haven't try on the email/http/ftp servers on Linux... I really wish that Linux will impress me in these area... Linux is designed for server anyway...

it takes me very long time to configure my whole laptop to run the redhat linux 9.0.. to find all the drivers and all.. if not because i want to do .NET stuffs. I should have been using Linux for quite a long time.

i every time log in as root leh.. why not? :P linux is not compatable with some hardware.. u may try downloading driver n install urself but that may or may not help.
